How will the MT legislative changes impact

Workers' Compensation and my business?

The 2011 legislative session has been a creative and busy session.  HB 334 was passed and approved by Governor Brian Schweitzer.  The passing of this bill is expected to create positive changes to Workers' Compensation funding for carriers and employers, like yourself.   The bill is expected to impact our community as early as July of this year.  How does this impact your business?  Payne Financial Group, Inc. is here to help you answer this question.

Here are a few of the changes House Bill 334 made to the Montana State Workers' Compensation Act, in plain language:

House Bill 334:

 - Shortens the duration of a worker's claim to medical benefits to 60 months from the date of injury or date of diagnosis of injury;

- Tightens the rules in regard to physician choice. Further regulation and clarification will be forthcoming;

- Froze medical fees at rates in effect on 10/31/2010, for three years; and

- Tightens up rules on when Workers Comp applies, specifically, what the course and scope of employment mean.

- There are a number of other changes; please refer to the Montana State Fund for further details (http://www.safemt.com/emails/HB334Summary.pdf).

These changes can be beneficial to you and your organization.
